DHAKA: Police constable Shamim, who received sever burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack during blockade on January 17, died Thursday noon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy-police commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman told banglanews that they came to know that Shamim succumbs to his injuries while undergoing treatment in city’s Square Hospitals.
But the hospital authorities have yet to issue the death certificate, he added.
Earlier on January 17, blockaders hurled a petrol bomb targeting police vehicle near Matsya Bhaban in city’s Ramna area leaving Shamim among five police members injured.
However, DMP deputy-police commissioner informed the media that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to visit Square Hospitals to express her condolence to the victim’s family members.
