DHAKA: Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said the welfare of the expatriate Bangladesh nationals is the highest priority of the incumbent government.
He made the comment while visiting the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York on February 11, said a press release issued
During interaction with the Mission’s officials, the Foreign Secretary also highlighted on the policy priorities of the present Government.
While touching on the consular and welfare issues, he mentioned that the present government has attached highest priority for the well-being of the expatriate Bangladesh nationals.
M Shameem Ahsan, ndc, Consul General and other Officers and Officials of the Mission welcomed him.
The Consul General briefly narrated the activities of the Mission and expressed Mission’s gratefulness for the continued support being received from the Government.
The Foreign Secretary appreciated the Mission officials for their dedicated services despite logistical and other constraints. He also urged them to render services with more devotion.
In this regard, he assured to extend all-out support from the Ministry.
Foreign Secretary later made a tour to various Sections of the Consulate. Dr Abdul Momen, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UN, senior officials/delegates from the government, among others, were also present.
The Foreign Secretary is currently in New York to attend an important UN meeting on international migration.
