COX’S BAZAR: A total of 108 Rohingyas along with a suspected trafficker were detained from Balukhali border in Ukhia Upazila of the district on Friday.
Fazlul Haque, a Subadar of Border Guard Bangladesh, sustained bullet injuries during the drive carried out in Balukhali betel leaf bazaar area at 12:30pm.
The injured BGB man was primarily admitted to Ukhia Health Complex and then shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Following the huge detention, police and BGB have started joint operation to nab the traffickers.
BGB-17 battalion commander Saiful Alam told banglanews that the Rohingyas, intruded into Bangladesh with help of traffickers, were heading toward Kutupalang camp by two jeeps.
Acting on tip off, the BGB men conducted drive and detained the 108 Rohingyas for illegal intrusion into the country from neighboring Myanmar.
During the time, the gang of traffickers opened fire to BGB men that left Fazlul Haque injured.
