DHAKA: A group of miscreants attempted to kidnap a businessman showing their fake identity of detective branch (DB) of police in city’s Shahjadpur area on Sunday noon.

Moreover, they also tried to snatch Tk 2.50-lakh from the businessman Masudur Rahman Mashqur.

The victim told banglanews that he was going to a bank to deposit Tk 2.50-lakh after withdrawing it from Shahjadpur branch of Mutual Trust Bank.

On his way, the miscreants, riding on a black microbus, stopped Mashqur and identified themselves as DB police. They also asked him to get into the vehicle.

The businessman declined to go with them as he said that there was no case against him

But when the miscreants attempted to snatch him, people gathered listening to his shout.

Later, the goons fled the place immediately, he added.

Bhatara Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nurul Mostaqim said that they will take necessary actions if any complaint filed in this regard.
