DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Saturday placed Shafiur Rahman Farabi on five-day remand again in a case under ICT Act filed with Ramna Thana in city.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafijur Rahman granted the remand order after a hearing when Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and also Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Wahiduzzaman produced Farabi before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Another DB Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the lawsuit with Ramna Thana around 11:00am on the day.
Officer-in-Charge of Ramna Thana Mashiur Rahman told banglanews the case was filed under ICT Act (amended)-2013 on charge of threatening several persons including Bangladesh Pratidin editor Noem Nizam for publishing Taslima Nasrin’s articles.
However, RAB personnel held Farabi on March 2 from Jatrabari in city and handed over to DB police.
Earlier, Farabi was placed on 10-day remand in Avijit murder case filed with Shahbagh Thana.
In the night of February 26, unidentified assailants hacked writer Avijit Roy to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya critically injured near TSC intersection on Dhaka University campus.
Victim’s father educationist Professor Ajay Roy filed a case with Shahbagh Thana regarding the murder.
