GOPALGANJ: Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina categorically said that they do not want to see people including children and pregnant women are being burnt to death.

Upholding the importance of better environment for children, the PM reiterated that they do not want to see the kids to be victims of political vengeance.

The premier made the assertions at a congregation of children, organized by women and children affairs ministry on the occasion of 95th birth anniversary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the mausoleum premises at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

She said that Bangabandhu, under whose leadership Bangalis achieved an independent state, used to love children. He dreamed that every child will study and later come to lead the nation.

That’s why we have declared Bangabandhu’s birthday as National Children’s Day, the PM opined.

Women and children affairs ministry state minister Meher Afroze was present as special guest at the program.

She said that the nation has brought the anti-liberation elements to trial. People, who are killing children by petrol bombs, will also be punished.

A child Ashura Islam chaired the function, attended by women and children affairs ministry secretary Tarique-ul-Islam, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Zillar Rahman and Gopalganj deputy commissioner Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, among others.
