FM condoles Lee’s demise

DHAKA: Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Tuesday expressed his condolences over the death of the Founding Father and architect of modern Singapore Lee Kuan Yew.

He also signed the condolence book at Singapore Consulate in Dhaka.

Foreign affairs ministry external publicity wing issued a press release regarding the matter.

It said on behalf of Bangladesh government and on his own behalf, the foreign minister expressed his deepest condolence in the sad demise of the Founding Father and architect of modern Singapore Lee Kuan Yew.

The release further said that the example of Lee Kuan’s leadership and accomplishments will remain as a lasting legacy not only for the citizens of Singapore but also for the whole world.

He also expressed his sympathy for the members of the bereaved family.

Earlier on the day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent separate messages to their counterparts in Singapore and expressed their condolences in the death of Lee Kuan Yew.
