DHAKA: Awami League-backed mayor aspirant Sayeed Khokon and Bangladesh Nationalist Party-supported Mirza Abbas have been allocated ‘Ilish’ and ‘mug’ symbols for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls, slated for April 28.
DSCC returning officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed distributed the symbols among the candidates in the election office set up at Mahanagar Natya Manch in city’s Gulistan area Friday morning.
In an instant reaction, Sayeed said that fish is a symbol of his emotion as his father ran for the polls with ‘fish’ symbol.
Mirza Abbas was allocated ‘mug’ symbol, said Advocate Sanaullah Mian, on behalf of Abbas. Terming it as symbol of peace; symbol of people, Sanaullah hoped that this symbol will ensure people’s victory.
Sayeed Khokon’s father Mohammad Hanif was the first elected mayor of erstwhile Dhaka City Corporation.
