GAZIPUR: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said the government took initiatives to construct 60 more bridges in the western part of the country with the view to smooth vehicular movement.
She further said the construction work of four-lane Dhaka-Mymensingh highway would be complete by July.
Sheikh Hasina came up with the observations while addressing a rally at Piar Ali University College playground after inaugurating Mauna flyover on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur in the afternoon.
The premier also said the government formed by BNP-Jamaat in 2001 stopped all the development works, started by the then Awami League government that formed in 1996.
Not only this, the donors also stopped supplying grants for BNP’s corruption, she alleged.
However, the construction work of Mauna flyover was complete three months earlier than the stipulated time.
