6 killed in Barisal road crash

BARISAL:  Six people, including two women, were killed and seven others injured in a road accident in Banshtola area of the metropolitan on Thursday morning.

Four of the deceased were identified as Mamun-or-Rashid, student of Barisal Government Syed Hakim Ali College, Swapan, driver of the human hauler and Sohrab and Altaf, passengers of the human hauler.

Quoting witnesses, police said a speedy truck ran over a human hauler in the area on Dhaka-Barisal highway around 9:30am, leaving five passengers of the vehicle dead on the spot and others injured.

Five bodies were recovered from the spot, said fire service senior station officer Alauddin.

Airport Thana officer-in-charge Motiar Rahman told banglanews that the bodies were sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Seven injured were admitted to the hospital where Mamun-or-Rashid succumbed to his injuries at 11:00am.
