DHAKA: Ibrahim Fatmi, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) additional police commissioner, categorically said that the criminals of ‘Pahela Baishakh assault’ will be detected through video footage.

He made the assertion to the media in Shahbagh Thana after visiting the spot on Sunday.

Terming it a sporadic incident, he said that police is currently talking to people and collecting video footage to detect the criminals.

DMP deputy police commissioner Jahangir Alam and other high-ups of police department were present during the visit.

Besides, Dhaka University proctor Amzad Hossain told the media that the criminals could be detected easily, if they were students of the university.

He commented that 125 BNCC volunteers were on duty in the area, but they did not see any incident.

It is taking time (to identify) the criminals as they were outsiders, he added.
