9 get life for killing boy in Kushtia

KUSHTIA: A district court on Monday gave nine people rigorous life term imprisonment for killing a 4-year old boy Alif in Bheramara upazila.

The court of Additional District and Session Judge Reza Mohammad Alamgir Hsasan passed the verdict at noon in presence of eight accused.

The convicts are Altaf, Rizia Khatun, Obaidul alias Akhter alias Azad, Minhaj, Haitul Hossain, Anwarul Islam, Enamul Haque, Asadul Haque and Shahabul Haque, hailed from Mokarimpur union of the upazila.

The court also discharged three as they were found innocent.

Court sources said on February 2 in 2011, Alif, son of Saleh Ahmed, hailed from Ramkrishnapur of the upazila went missing. After seven days, body of the boy was found at a playground in the area.

Saleh Ahmed filed a lawsuit against 12 in this connection.
