DHAKA: Metropolitan Detective Branch of Police, in a drive, arrested three human traffickers from Dakkhinkhan and Fakirapool areas on Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Golam Robbani, Shahadat Hossain alias Masud and Shafiqul Islam.

A press conference, held in Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre, disclosed the matter around 11:30am.
 
Law enforcers arrested Robbani and Masud from a hotel in Dhakkhinkhan’s Ashkona Bazar and rescued 18 trafficking victims, who were gathered there to be trafficked to different countries.

Moreover, Shafiqul was arrested from a house near G Net Tower in Fakirapool area.

The traffickers were arrested following information given by a victim Kabir Ahmed.

DMP acting deputy commissioner Sheikh Nazmul Alam said the traffickers took Tk 7 lakh from each victim promising them to send to island state Palau in Oceania continent.

According to the DMP official, no prior visa acquired to enter Palu. “The brokers send the people to the country with port entry visa and later, send them to several countries including Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia by boat”.

Alam said two separate cases have been filed in Dakkhinkhan and Motijheel Thanas in this regard.
