‘Connectivity’ important for Bangladesh

DHAKA: European Union (EU) ambassador Pierre Mayaudon commented that ‘connectivity’ is important for Bangladesh.

The envoy posted in Dhaka made the comment at a program, organized by Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) at a city hotel on Monday.

Welcoming the recently signed 4-nation road connectivity treaty in Thimphu, the envoy said it will strengthen the communications between the nations in south Asia.

The treaty will also mobilize the economy and trade in the region and extend the idea of communication, he added.

DCAB president Masud Karim and general secretary Bashir Ahmed, among others, also spoke at the program.

However, transport ministers of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal on June 15 signed the Motor Vehicles Agreement allowing cross-border movement of passengers and goods among the four south Asian countries by road.
