BACK FROM KUALA LUMPUR: The blacklisted Victoria International College, which is slapped with the ban in bringing foreign students, has now stopped taking classes.
In last May, the authority took the signatures of the students as their attendance in advance for next one year.
A Bangladeshi national Selim (not real name), a student of Hotel Management informed the media that in last May he was told by the college authorities that there will be no class in the next year so you put your signature for attendance.
Selim also said that he came over here in last May when two classes were held in a week. But next classes were held for one day only, now there will be no class for the next one year.
After the spot visit to the campus of the college located at Batu Lima of Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur it was found the college authority’s office is set at the ground floor and the sixth floor is for the visa processing works for the students and there is a class room there.
The external look of the college gives the idea of a godown with a small gate. But which is remarkable and interesting that right from footpath to the sixth floor every where there were hundreds of Bangladeshi students who came here mainly for visa processing.
Bangladeshi student Saidul (not real name) from Cox’s Bazar told Banglanews that Victoria International College should not be regarded as an educational institution rather it is justifiably a visa trading center.
As their advanced signatures have been obtained, now there is no academic relation with the college. In next February, they will deposit their passports for visa renewal.
For visa renewal it requires MYR 4 to 5 thousand which is around Taka 85 thousand to 1 lakh 20 thousand. So this is the main business of Victoria College.
The college practically is run by the money of Bangladeshi students. Their earning of a year after hard labor has to pay to the university. A part of the money also goes to the agents.
The Bangladeshi agents prefer this college for sending students.
The students are allowed to get admitted here with fake certificates and other documents.
One student Sagar (not real name) informed Banglanews that everyday about 30 to 35 Bangladeshi students join this college. Their visa processing has been completed before May.
One agent in Kuala Lumpur said that the new students are made agents for bringing more students from Bangladesh because they are paid 10 percent commission for each student.
While talking to the students there, the names of three agents in Dhaka was learnt. They are identified as Sajib of Lalmatia and Faisal and Parvez of Malibagh.
