DHAKA: Police detained five people, including two former members of Bangladesh Army, for alleged link in kidnapping a businessperson from city’s Adabar area.
The detainees are for lance corporal of Bangladesh Army Abdul Gafur, former sergeant of army Golam Mohammad Chowdhury, Azad Hossian alias Rukan, Sohanur Alam and Mohammd Sanullah.
Confirming the matter Tejgaon Zone Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC) Wahidul Islam said the abducted businessman was rescued from Phulbaria area under Turag Thana on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier on June 25, Mokhles Khan, 32, Garment Stock product businessman, was abducted from city’s Adabar area and demanded Tk 30-lakh as ransom from family members over phone.
On June 27, family members filed a general diary (GD) with Adabar Thana, mentioning that Mokhles went missing from Thursday.
Adabar Thana police traced the kidnappers through mobile tracking. Later, a team of police conducted a drive, at 72 no. house of Phulbaria area around 4:10pm and rescued the abducted businessman.
Law enforcers, also, detained five kidnappers and recovered Tk 23,000 out of Tk 1.56 ransom money.
The body of Mokhles bore injury mark of torture, says the ADC.
