Mufti Abdur Rahman’s janaza in Bashundhara at 10am

DHAKA: Noted Islamic scholar Faqihul Millat Mufti Abdur Rahman died at Bashundhara Islamic research center in the city on Tuesday night. He was 91.

His namaz-e-janaza is set to be held at Bashundhara central mosque around 10:00am Wednesday and then he will be buried at Bashundhara new graveyard.

Mufti Abdur Rahman was born at Imam Nagar village in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong in 1920.

His father’s name was Chan Mia. He completed primary, secondary and higher secondary educations in Nazirhat and Hathazari madrasas.

Later, he obtained higher degree from Darul Uloom Deoband at Uttar Pradesh in India.

He set up a unique and research-oriented organization — Islamic Research Centre, Bashundhara — in 1991. He also opened a department of Islamic economics and banking in the Islamic Research Centre in 2002. 

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan expressed deep condolence at the death of Islamic scholar Mufti Abdur Rahman.

He prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy for the bereaved family members
