MYMENSINGH: Police recovered dead bodies of three newborn babies wrapped in polythene, from a water body in Mymensingh town on Monday morning.

Two of the deceased are female and one is male.

Kotwali Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said after abortion, someone might throw the newborn babies into the water body beside Polytechnic Institute Hostel of the district town.

Noticing those bodies, locals informed police in the morning. Later, police recovered the bodies around 9:15am and sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue.

According to the OC, they think that the babies were illegally aborted in a local clinic and then later dumped into the water body.

Legal action will be taken against the criminals after the investigation, he added.
