No 2nd chance at DU

DHAKA: No second chance left to sit for admission Tests at Dhaka University as Supreme Court upheld a High Court order that rejected a writ petition in this regard.

An Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order on Monday morning.

On July 8, the High Court rejected the writ petition against the decision of the DU authorities not to allow students to sit for the varsity’s entry test for the second time.

Later, the petitioners filed an appeal against the HC order that rejected the writ petition against the decision of the DU authorities.

 On October 15, 2014, the DU authorities decided to allow only fresh successful HSC examinees to appear at its admission tests
Later, 16 guardians filed the writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the decision.

In response to the writ petition, the HC issued a rule asking the DU authorities to explain why the decision not to allow students to sit for the entry test for the second time would not be declared illegal.
