DHAKA UNIVERSITY: The Dhaka University administration early Thursday handed over three of its students to Shahbagh Thana police over an allegation of sexual harassment to a female student.

The detainees were first year students Ratul Hasan Nayeem, Amirul Islam and Nazmul Shakib.

Acting proctor of DU, Prof AM Amjad, told banglanews three students tried to harass a student of Rokeya Hall at Payra Chattar around 1:30 am.

Hearing her shout asking help, a patrolling team detained the three and handed over them to police, he added.

Punitive actions would be taken against them, he added.

Shahbagh Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique told banglanews three were held on allegation of sexual assault of a female student of DU.

Actions would be taken against them after consultation with the university authority, he added.
