Rajon murder case shifted to session judge’s court

SYLHET: Teenage boy Samiul Islam Rajon killing case has been shifted to Metropolitan Session Judges Court from Metropolitan Magistrate court.

Judge of Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 Shahedul Karim on Monday sent the case to the Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court of Akber Hossian Mridha for beginning trial procedures.

The court also set September 16 for next hearing of the case.

Sylhet Judge court senior assistant commissioner (AC-prosecution) Abdul Ahad confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On August 16, case investigation officer and also metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of police Suranjit Talukdar submitted a chargesheet to the court of Shahedul Karim accusing 13 and making 38 persons as witnesses.

On July 8, Samiul Islam Rajon, 13, was beaten to death on accusations of stealing a rickshaw van at Kumargaon of Sylhet sadar upazila.

A 28-minute video clip on the brutal torture to the boy to death has gone viral on the internet, creating a firestorm on the social media.

Earlier on July 8, locals caught one Muhit Alam (22) when he was taking the body in a microbus (Dhaka Metro-Cha-54-0516) to dump outside. Then they handed over him to the police.
