FROM PATNA TO SILIGURI: Patna, capital of Indian province Bihar, is renowned as a city of transportation. Geographically, it is situated in the center part of India. Here trucks are loaded and unloaded with goods and later they leave for other Indian provinces.

Currently, the Chhath Puja is being ce3lebrated by the Hindu devotees in this area. Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival of Nepalese and Indian devotees dedicate to the Hindu Sun God, Surya and Chhathi Maiya.

However, there are celebrations regarding this puja everywhere by the streets. A devotee from Orissa province informed banglanews, “Mostly people of Bihar celebrate this puja”.

The river Ganga flows by Patna. Tuesday (17 November) evening was the ending of the puja through taking shower in the river.

Amid this puja, the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) friendship motor rally reached Siliguri, passing the Ganga. The Hindu devotees paid homage to the Ganga from their vehicles.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, from the Gandhi Stadium, the rally flag was raised by two Bihar High Court judges, MP Sing and NP Sing. Following Bihar’s tradition, the rally is launched through breaking coconuts.

The rally is set to reach Siliguri, crossing Mozaffarpur, Madhubani, Forebas forest and Dalkhola. This is one of the largest rallies, spreading over 4.5 thousand kilometers.

Last Monday night, the motor rally crossed 337 kilometers of road and later arrived in Patna.

The rally came through Hazaribagh, Barahi, Jhumari Talaya, Kaderma, Bihar Sharif and Bakhtiarpur areas to finally reach from Jharkhand to Patna.

In the rally, the deputy secretary of Bangladesh home ministry, Nirodh Chandra Mandal was present along with six-member team comprising of second secretary of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Mohammad Shahidul Islam, roads and transports department deputy director Maqsudur Rahman, Bangladesh Friend Forwards Association (Post and Customs) Sayeed Md. Bakhtiar, Shamoli Paribahan manager Noyon Kumar Roy and Banglanews senior correspondent Mazadul Haque.
