DHAKA: Police on Friday arrested a garment workers’ leader from Palashbari in the industrial zone of Ashulia alongwith a firearm and some bombs.

Acting on secret information, police arrested Ali Reza Chowdhury Tuhin, vice president of the central committee of garment Workers’ Trade Union, at about 4:30pm.  

Tuhin is also the president of the union’s Ashulia committee, police said.

Mozzammel Haque, additional police super of Dhaka, told banglanews24.com.bd, “Police got the information that Tuhin was planning to carry out subversive act in the industrial zone and he was under the close watch of detective branch.”

Tuhin is being interrogated, said SP of Savar circle Monwarul Islam.
