DHAKA: The Shipping Ministry Monday wrote to the government’s Cabinet Division for deciding which ministry is to look after the ship-breaking industry that is just up and coming.

“The Ministry sent the letter to the Cabinet Division in the afternoon,” Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan told banglanews24.com.bd.

There is no ministry to coordinate the works of the industry, hampering the overall activities of the sector.

Participants in an inter-ministerial meeting held here on June 1 opined that+ fixing a focal point for the ship-breaking industry is a must as the Ministries of Forest and Environment, Shipping, Commerce, and Industries are involved with different works of the industry.
