MYMENSINGH: The International Crimes Tribunal prosecution Thursday claimed enough evidences were found to prove “crimes against humanity” committed in Sherpur and Mymensingh during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

“We have got strong evidences of mass killings, rape and looting through spot investigations and we have taken witnesses’ statements during the two-day visit, which is enough to prove the war crimes in trial,” said Jeyad Al Malum, prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal.

He came up with the observations at a press conference at Mymensingh Circuit House on Thursday evening to wrap up their fact-finding trip.

But he didn’t disclose anything for the sake of investigation, being done as part of the war-crime trial proceedings. 

Additional Police Super Nurul Islam, also Investigation Officer, said, “We have visited several spots as well as talked to the members of freedom fighters’ families, wounded freedom fighters, which will play an important role in trying war criminals.”

He also said they recorded statements of 30 witnesses.
Earlier, the team visited the killing ground on the Bangladesh Agriculture University premises.  

A six-member investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal Tuesday started spot investigation into the crimes committed during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War with an exclusive parley with a Rajakar of that time.
