9 passport brokers held in city

DHAKA: A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) in a drive held nine members of a passport brokers’ gang from city’s Agargaon Passport Office on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the detainees were awarded three months jail and fined Tk 10,000 each.

RAB executive magistrate HM Anwar Pasha told banglanews, “Acting on a tip-off, we became ensured about their position and then arrested them.”

RAB senior ASP Raihan, Bashir Ahamed, Kamrul and Shamim Ara were in the team.

RAB-2 commanding officer Lieutenant Anisur Rahman said that earlier we conducted such type of drive and our prime target is to alert people through media.
