Dhaka, the crowded capital of Bangladesh, ranked 12th in the world for the worst air quality on Friday, with an AQI score of 176 at 9 am.
This level of pollution is considered unhealthy and can be harmful, especially for sensitive groups.
Cities such as Delhi, Tashkent, and Lahore topped the list with AQI scores of 292, 249, and 237, respectively.
The AQI index, based on pollutants like PM10, PM2.5, NO2, CO, SO2, and ozone, helps assess the pollution level and associated health risks.
Dhaka, which faces ongoing air pollution issues, sees its air quality deteriorate during winter and improve in the monsoon.
According to the WHO, air pollution is responsible for around seven million deaths worldwide annually, mainly from respiratory and heart-related diseases.
