FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday categorically said the next general elections would be held within January 25 as per the constitution.

She came up with the assertion in her opening speech of the 19th session of the parliament on Thursday afternoon.

Dr Shirin Sharmin said, “This session is very important. I hope ruling and opposition parties will settle the unsolved issues of the nation.”

On August 18, President M Abdul Hamid summoned the session.
