Road mishap in Mymensingh: 4 killed

Mymensingh: Four people were killed and another was seriously injured in two road mishaps in Mymensingh Sunday, triggering an angry protest.

Police said a fatal accident occurred as a Dhaka-bound bus and a tempo collided at 11:30am on the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway at Meherabari in Bhaluka upazila.
    
The tempo driver and two passengers were killed instantly in the accident. The deceased were identified as Farid Mia, 22, the tempo driver from Gabjan in Fulbaria upazila, Jasim Uddin from Varadoba and Monir Hossain of Batara village of Bhaluka upazila.

In another mishap, a Dhaka-bound bus from Jamalpur knocked a motorbike at 8.30am at Bailar Bazar in Trishal. Bike-rider Azam Khan died on the spot and his associate was injured critically.

The injured was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Agitated people barricaded the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway following the accident.

Police later seized the two buses.
