DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned Dr Md Shahjahan, assistant director (Administration) of Central Medicine Store Depot (CMSD), over allegations of graft in purchasing of N95 masks and other protective equipment for government hospitals amid the coronavirus pandemic.
An ACC team, led by its Director Mir Md Zainul Abedin Shibli, started the interrogation after Shahjahan arrived the agency’s headquarters in Segun Bagicha of Dhaka around 10:00 am on Sunday (July 19).
ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter.
Earlier on July 13, six officials of CMSD were asked to appear before the ACC to give statements about their alleged involvement in various irregularities in the name of procuring substandard masks, PPEs and other health equipment for the treatment of Covid-19.
The officials are- Dr Md Shahjahan, assistant director (Administration) of CMSD, Dr Sabbir Ahmed, former desk officer-8 and additional duty on store, Kabir Ahmmed, store officer, Md Yusuf Fakir, senior storekeeper, Dr Md Zakir Hossain, deputy director and P&C, and Dr Ziaul Haque, former medical officer (chief coordinator).
Dr Md Zakir Hossain and Dr Ziaul Haque will also be questioned by ACC today while the remaining three officials will be questioned on Monday.
