Tender terrorism: Abducted fisherman rescued

Jhenidah: Local Awami League men allegedly kidnapped a fisherman here Thursday as he submitted tender to get lease of a ‘Jalmahal’ ignoring their dictate.   

The victim, Moni Kumar, son of Sree Kesto of Kumaridaha village in Shailokupa upazila, was rescued by police on Thursday night in a three-hour drive.

Police said the son of Upazila Awami League president and their associates abducted Moni in broad daylight. On information, police rescued him from a hostel in Cinema Hall road area and held two kidnappers--Thandu and Colonel—from the place.

“he kidnappers tortured Moni,” police added.

Moni lodged an abduction case with Shailokupa Thana against Thandu and Colonel.
