A human chain was formed in Narail on Wednesday in protest against the plot to murder Bashundhara Group Managing Director and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

The protest programme was held in the Court area of the district around 10:30am.

Narail correspondent of the Kaler Kantho Saiful Islam Tuhin, Narail correspondent of the Bangladesh Pratidin and News24 Sajjad Hossain, journalists Sathi Talukder and Ashok Kundu, among others, spoke at the event.

The speakers demanded immediate arrest and speedy trial of Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and his son Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun for their heinous plot to kill the Bashundhara Group MD.

Foiling an attempt to kill the Bashundhara Group Managing Director, police on Friday (Nov 5) arrested a young man, Saiful Islam Saad, who initially confessed that he tried to kill the country’s business tycoon at the behest of Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and his son Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun.

Immediately after the arrest, the youth also confessed to police that he was given a good amount of money to accomplish the mission to kill the Bashundhara Group MD. A Dhaka court on Sunday placed him on a three-day remand to find out the masterminds.
