DHAKA: The grand rally organized by ruling Awami League a grand rally began at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on Sunday afternoon marking the Jail Killing Day.

Through recitation from the holy Quran, the rally started around 2:30pm with Deputy Leader of the parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury in the chair.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also Awami League president, will address the rally as chief guest.

Besides, local government and rural development minister Syed Ashraful Islam, presidium member Nuh-Alam Lenin, PM’s foreign affairs adviser Dr Gowhar Rizvi,  AL joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, state minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Organizing secretary  Ahmad Hossain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhurym and other senior leaders are present in the rally.

Patrol Inspector (PI) Anwar told banglanews: “Following the rally security measures have been beefed up in the area. Police men are patrolling around the ground from Saturday night.”

On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) sources said that DMP gave the permission to Awami League to hold grand rally with 13 conditions.
