Three doctors from Johns Hopkins University of the United States are expected to arrive in Bangladesh on Wednesday (October 25) to treat BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP Chairperson's Media Wing Member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to the media.
The BNP chairperson’s family and the party are trying to bring doctors from abroad to Bangladesh, he added.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was shifted to a cabin at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka around 11 am on Tuesday.
Earlier, on Monday night, she was taken to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital as her condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, during a press conference in Dhaka, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir described Khaleda Zia’s condition as critical and said she needs advanced treatment right now.
The former prime minister has been undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital for over two months since August 9.
She was taken to the CCU several times while she was undergoing treatment at that hospital.
Khaleda Zia was imprisoned on February 8, 2018, after she was convicted in two cases and she was in jail for over two years in this connection.
Khaleda Zia, who was convicted in Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases, was released on March 25, 2020, as the government postponed her conviction executive order on humanitarian ground.
Since then, her release period has been extended every six months.
