Awami League Joint General Secretary and former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud was seen in public for the first time since the fall of the Awami League-led government on August 5, 2024.

Mahmud attended Eid prayers at Al-Kalam Mosque in the Gants Hill area of London on Sunday (local time), marking his first public appearance in months.

Following the student-led mass uprising that led to the government's downfall, media reports suggested he had been detained at Dhaka airport while attempting to leave the country. 

However, later reports from Chattogram-based C-Plus TV and Chatga News 6 claimed he had traveled to Belgium, where his brother resides.

His presence in London has reignited speculation about his whereabouts in recent months.
