The Election Commission (EC) has summoned Awami League (AL) candidate Amir Hossain Amu to explain why his candidacy should not be canceled following a violation of the electoral code of conduct.

The EC asked the AL leader to appear before it by 3.00 pm on December 15 to give an explanation in this regard.

In the letter, the EC held Amu accountable for carrying out electioneering three weeks before the scheduled date of the election campaign.

The EC on November 16 came up with a directive that said that nobody will be allowed to take part in the election campaign till December 18 as the EC will allocate electoral symbols among the candidates on that day.
