A court in Dhaka today (December 28) sentenced former home minister and BNP Vice-Chairman Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Major (retd) Md Hafizuddin Ahmed, and Major (retd) Md Hanif to jail for 21 months in a sabotage case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury pronounced the judgement on Thursday. 

They were sentenced to three months’ imprisonment under one section of the case. In another section, they were jailed to one and a half years.

The magistrate cleared 11 additional defendants as the allegations against them were not substantiated.

Earlier on 25 April 2022, the court framed charges and started the trial in the case.
