Police arrested Moin Abdullah, son of former chief whip Abul Hasanat Abdullah, from the capital's Gulshan area early Saturday.

Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest in the morning.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in the area around 3:30 am and arrested Moin, the paternal cousin of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Moin is accused of possessing explosive substances and several other cases filed with different police stations in Barishal.
