DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to sack top BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Dhaka city BNP convener Sadeque Hossain Khoka from its central committee.
Party sources said chairperson herself has taken initiatives to make the party pro-active under the leadership of young leaders who sacrificed for the party.
Sources also said chairperson wanted to handover leadership to fresh bloods who would work for the people by upholding the ideology of late Ziaur Rahman, founder of the party.
Besides, she also wanted to minus corrupted leaders and those who allegedly connected with criminal activities.
It is been assuming that Khaleda Zia became pro-active after cancelation of organizational visits of central leaders due to discontent among grassroots level leaders-activists.
Sources also said standing committee member Tariqul Islam, M Shamsul Islam, Najrul Islam Khan also might be axed for their inactive roles during the recent countrywide anti-government movements.
As a part of the process, Khaleda Zia took initiatives to reform Dhaka Metropolitan Committee BNP and verbally ordered Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Barkat Ullah Bulu and Mohammad Shahjahan to sort out country wide committees, confirmed party sources.
