Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has left for Singapore on Monday morning (Sept 22) for advanced medical treatment on doctors’ advice.
He boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 8:25am, accompanied by his personal physician, Dr Sazzad Hossain Russell, an associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), also known as PG Hospital.
Nur is scheduled to receive treatment at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital, a leading medical facility in the region.
Nur sustained injuries on August 29 during a clash between Gono Odhikar Parishad and Jatiya Party activists in front of the JP central office in Kakrail. Police baton charges left several injured, including Nur, who was rushed to hospital the same day. An emergency medical board was formed, and he was later shifted to the ICU.
A 10-member team of specialist doctors subsequently oversaw his treatment. After weeks of care, he was discharged from Dhaka Medical College Hospital on September 15 and has since been recovering at home.
