BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that it was inappropriate to remove the picture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Bangabhaban.
"I believe his (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's) photo should not have been removed," Rizvi said.
He added that Khandaker Moshtaque removed it, while Ziaur Rahman restored it.
Rizvi made these remarks on Tuesday (Nov 12) while speaking as the chief guest at the opening of a free medical camp at the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka.
The camp was organized by the Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) in observance of "National Revolution and Solidarity Day."
Rizvi explained that after the August 15, 1975, incident, Khandaker Moshtaque took down Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's picture. But when Ziaur Rahman assumed power on November 7 through a military-civilian uprising, he restored Sheikh Mujib's picture in Bangabhaban.
