Relaxed hartal underway in Singra upazila

NATORE: The eight-hour hartal, called by Singra Upazila unit of BNP, is underway in a relaxed mood in the upazila of the district on Saturday.

People were seen busy in their regular activities and haulages on the roads remained normal, reported banglanews correspondent.

No procession or picketing in support of hartal was seen in the area due to rain and dull weather, he added.

However, earlier upazila BNP called the hartal on a demand of getting back their missing leaders in the area.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Singra Police Station Shafiqul Islam said that no unpleasant incidents were seen yet.

On January 18, Komol UP Chairman Fazlar Rahman Funu, also local Awami League leader was killed by miscreants.  Later, victim’s brother filed a case against 12 people including Upazila BNP organizing Secretary Ibrahim Khalil.

On Monday, Ibrahim Khalil along with two BNP leaders picked up by some people in guise of law enforcers after coming out of the court getting bail and still untraced.
