A Dhaka court today (Nov 20) placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a five-day remand in a murder case filed over the death of garment worker Fazlul Karim during the quota reform movement in Uttara on August 5 this year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahmed passed the order.

Earlier today, Investigation Officer (IO) Md Mahmudur Rahman, an inspector of the Detective Branch of police, produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

After the hearing, the magistrate placed him on a five-day remand.

Earlier on August 21, the victim's brother Anwar Hossain Aynal filed a murder case with Uttara East Police Station in the capital against 40 individuals.

According to the case statement, Fazlul Karim took part in the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5 on Uttara's Jashim Uddin Road where he was shot.

Later, he was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
