Khaleda set to address Rajbari rally

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia is now on the way to Rajbari to join a mass rally on Saturday afternoon demanding cancelation of one-sided election and holding fair and participatory elections.

The BNP chief’s motorcade left her Gulshan residence around 11:00am. On the way to Rajbari, Khaleda will take a break in Manikganj and offer fateha at the grave of party’s former secretary general Delwar Hossain, said party sources.    

However, she will address a rally organized by BNP-led 19-party alliance at Shaheed Abdul Aziz Khushi Railway ground of the district around 3:00pm.

This is Khaleda’s first visit outside Dhaka since January 5 national polls.

BNP and its associate organizations in Rajbari are taking preparations including arranging meetings with party activists.

Rajbari District unit BNP president, also former MP, Ali Newaz Mahmud Khoiyum told banglanews that they have taken preparations for Khaleda Zia’s upcoming visit. They had already held preparatory meetings with party activists in several parts of the district.

Rajbari district administration has also given a positive nod to Khaleda Zia’s visit, Khoiyum added.

Rajbari Police Superintendent Rezaul Haque told banglanews that the administration will provide all sorts of security to the BNP chief also former prime minister.
