DHAKA: A Dhaka Court deferred the indictment hearing against BNP leaders including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir till June 16 in the case for blasting cocktails near to secretariat.
Dhaka-5 special tribunal judge Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan passed the deferment order in response to a time petition filed by some accused.
Earlier, the court fixed Thursday for the charge framing hearing. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Amanullah Aman, Sadek Hossain Khoka appeared before the court.
On May 31 last year, Police submitted charge-sheet against 29 opposition leaders.
Earlier on April 29, 2013, two handmade bombs were hurled at the Secretariat during the 18-party alliance-sponsored countrywide shut down in protest against the `disappearance` of one of the BNP`s organising secretaries and Sylhet chapter chief M Ilias Ali.
Police filed a case with the Shahbagh thana over the incident the same day.
The accused are currently on bail.
