The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated three separate cases against former Jhalakathi-2 MP and ex-industries minister, Amir Hossain Amu, along with his daughter Sumaiya Hossain and sister-in-law Syeda Haque Mary. 

The trio is accused of accumulating wealth disproportionate to their declared income.

“They are accused of acquiring wealth that doesn’t match their declared income,” said ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain at a briefing today.

Amu is accused of misusing his power to illegally acquire assets worth over Tk 26.27 crore and conducting questionable financial transactions through 14 bank accounts, totaling Tk 31.47 crore.

His daughter, Sumaiya Hossain, is accused of leveraging her father’s political influence to gain assets worth Tk 4.43 crore and making suspicious transactions of Tk 48.49 crore through 18 bank accounts.

Syeda Haque Mary, Amu’s sister-in-law, is charged with acquiring assets of over Tk 7.66 crore despite no legitimate income source, along with suspicious transactions of Tk 62.68 crore across 13 bank accounts.
