Rizvi accuses Hasina of turning country into 'Karbala' for power

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has accused ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of turning the country into "Karbala" to cling to power, citing alleged election irregularities.

Speaking at an event in Naya Paltan today, while distributing Eid gifts to rickshaw and auto drivers on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Rizvi claimed that the interim government enjoys strong public support despite not being directly elected.

He urged the government to announce a clear roadmap for the next general election.

Rizvi called for state support for the families of 17 rickshaw pullers who, he claimed, died during last year’s protests.

BNP leader Ishraque Hossain, also present at the event, said he had finally received justice after a long legal battle, which he claimed was denied under Sheikh Hasina’s rule.
