DHAKA: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed indicated National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman as a pro-BNP-Jamaat intellectual at his presence.

The minister came up with the comment while addressing a half-yearly conference arranged by Jatiya Puja Udjapon Parishad at Teachers Students Center (TSC) of Dhaka University on Friday morning.

Dr Mizanur Rahman, in his speech, criticized the Government`s failure to prevent sectarian violence during elections and torture on minority people.

Later, the Commerce Minister, in his speech, replied that none says how have sectarian violence been started. All are criticizing the government. “It indicates the difference between real intellectuals and pro-BNP-Jamaat ones,” he added.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council President Rana Dasgupta also attended the program.
