PABNA: Miscreants chopped a Sramik Dal activist to death at Poyda village under Sadar upazila of the district Thursday.

Victim, Ripon Hossain, 32, son of Osman Goni of the village, breathed his last at Pabna Medical College Hospital at 9:30am of the day.

Mirza Dulal of Poyda village told banglanews, “Ripon was going to his farmland for works; on arrival at near one Subhan’s house at the village, some 7/8 miscreants hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.”

Locals rushed him to the hospital where he succumbed to his injures while undergoing treatment.

Criminals of local Awami League killed Ripon in a planned way, alleged district Sramink Dal general secretary Abdul Gafur.

Denying the allegation, Goyeshpur Union Awami League president Motahar Hossain Mutai said Ripon might have been killed for BNP’s intra-party conflicts.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Sadar Thana Officer-In-Charge Kazi Haniful Islam said on information, police rushed to the hospital and took the body their custody.

Victim’s family filed a case and necessary steps would be taken after investigation, said the OC.
