DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said the government wanted to settle down the issue of Grameen Bank (GB) with Dr Muhammad Yunus that was not possible as he went to the court.
The finance minister was talking to journalists at a conference on his visit to USA at the conference room of the secretariat in the city.
Muhith said, “Appointment process for directors are not transparent at GB and he (Yunus) himself selected the directors, how that is possible.”
This process was an impossible one, he commented.
The minister said, “We brought change to the appointment process, Bangladesh Bank will deal with the process.”
On the alleged politicization of GB, Muhith made questions why the process would be nontransparent, if BB holds responsibility.
He further said non-transparency remains in GB’s existing system.
